Spike Ventures is a Stanford University alumni-community venture capital fund launched in March 2017 by Alumni Ventures (AV), the Manchester, New Hampshire-headquartered platform that operates as America's largest venture fund for individuals and one of the most active U.S. venture firms by deal count. Spike Ventures is Alumni Ventures' Stanford-focused fund and invests in Stanford-alumni-connected venture-stage companies across sectors and stages, co-investing alongside established venture firms such as Sequoia, Greylock, Andreessen Horowitz, and Kleiner Perkins. The fund operates as a deal-by-deal and portfolio-diversified vehicle providing accredited Stanford alumni access to venture capital via USD 25,000-plus minimum commitments with fee-reduction benefits for early investors. Spike Ventures is led by Managing Partner Todd McIntyre (previously co-founder of Grey Sky Venture Partners), originally founded by Andre de Baubigny, and is structured to create diversified portfolios of approximately 20 to 30 investments per fund (Fund 7 currently fundraising as of 2024-2025). The firm is private, for-profit, and not affiliated with or sanctioned by Stanford University; notable portfolio companies include Future, Kite, Cohere, and Capella Space.
