Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement System (PMRS) is a public pension fund located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1943, PMRS seeks to help Pennsylvania's local governments, secure the future retirement of their employees by providing comprehensive and professional pension administration services. Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement board consists of eleven-member who administer the system. The state treasurer and the secretary of the commonwealth serve on the board by virtue of their positions. Another eight board members are appointed by the governor after being nominated by their respective organizations or associations. The accounting division manages the system's investments, prepares financial reports, and maintains municipal and member financial accounts. The assets are managed by the board members.
