Y. Michele Kang

Y. Michele Kang serves as Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Cognosante. She serves as the Board Member at Upstream Research. She is a visionary in the field of health information technology, focusing Cognosante on doing things fundamentally differently, leveraging emerging electronic infrastructure, modular service-oriented architecture, and innovative business models. Under her leadership, Cognosante is building capabilities and solutions connecting the dots among federal, state and local, and commercial health organizations and across siloed programs like Medicaid, HIE, HIX, and Integrated Eligibility. Prior to founding Cognosante in 2008, Michele served as Vice President and General Manager of Northrop Grumman's Health Solutions, where she oversaw Northrop Grumman's Health IT business. Under her direction, Northrop Grumman Health Solutions became a recognized leader in health IT. Taking over the operating unit in 2003, she built a health business that now spans the major components of the health industry - clinical systems, life sciences, public health, and healthcare financing and benefits management. With extensive domain expertise in each of these areas, her unit provided mission-critical, enterprise-wide health applications, interoperable architecture, and large-scale systems integration and engineering to leading health organizations.
