Tariq Fancy

Tariq Fancy is the Founder of The Rumie Initiative and also serves as its Chairman and Executive Director. He also serves as Chief Investment Officer of Sustainable Investing at BlackRock. He also serves as Board Member at ActSocial. Tariq founded Rumie after a senior-level career in investment banking and private equity in New York, Toronto and Palo Alto. Ten years ago, when the idea of people in emerging markets using mobile phones sounded far off, he led investments to bring mobile phones into emerging markets as a successful 'leapfrog' innovation over landlines. A Toronto native, Tariq graduated honours with distinction from Brown University (U.S.), spent one year at Oxford (UK), and has a Masters from Sciences Po (France) and an MBA with distinction from INSEAD (France & Singapore).
