The Greater Milwaukee Foundation helps people establish permanent charitable funds that serve people throughout Milwaukee, Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington counties and beyond. Because donors name each fund and choose the causes it serves, they enjoy the individuality of a private foundation. Because these funds are united under one organizational roof, they gain the superior cost effectiveness and tax benefits of a large public charity.GMF Investment Pool includes a diverse mix of equities, bonds and alternative investments. The goal of this pool is to generate highly competitive investment returns that support grantmaking, while ensuring that each fund's principal growth equals or exceeds the rate of inflation. Currently, 22.5% of the foundation's funds are allocated to alternative investments.
