Description
Joe Canterbury is a Co-Founder at Pacific Springboard and also serves as its Managing Partner and Board Member. He also serves as Senior Vice President, Global Business Development at Appconomy. He leads global market operations for Appconomy, including Marketing, Sales, Business Development and related Support functions. Immediately prior to Appconomy, Joe served as a key executive responsible for international business development for Starbucks for more than a decade. Canterbury had been with Starbucks since 2000, with his most recent position being Vice President of International Business Development. In that role, he was responsible for executing key strategic Retail and Consumer Product Goods projects for Starbucks in China, India, Brazil, and across Europe. He spent his first six years driving the international expansion strategy and entry into numerous new markets & channels across Asia, Europe and Latin America and then moved in 2007 to Amsterdam, where he was responsible for all new businesses and markets in EMEA (Europe, Middle East Africa). This was followed by a stint running Starbucks Germany before returning to a global role in Seattle. Before joining Starbucks, Canterbury held various management positions with Daimler based in Germany and Singapore. While in Singapore, he drove M&A & Partnering strategy and projects across Asia. He received a Masters in International Business from Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria and his MBA from Texas A&M University's Mays School of Business. He serves as Board Member at HeatGenie. He has spent over two decades helping expand great consumer brands around the world, including 11 years as a senior executive with Starbucks Coffee International. He presently is the Managing Partner and co-founder of Pacific Springboard, a platform company that helps bring hot US consumer concepts and supporting technologies into China and Asia. He is also President of Chaucer Investments, through which he invests in and actively advises multiple emerging consumer companies and brands. He has also served as SVP for Appconomy, a China-focused mobile commerce and marketing innovator and serves on the board of Appconomy Asia, a HK based JV. Canterbury's tenure with Starbucks included many years as VP of Global Business Development , where he led the expansion of Retail businesses across Europe, Latin America and Asia and also helped launch CPG products in numerous countries. He also served as VP of New Business for Starbucks EMEA, based out of Amsterdam, and Managing Director of Starbucks Germany. Prior to Starbucks, he worked for Daimler (Mercedes-Benz) in Germany and Singapore. Canterbury brings expertise in International Retail, Food Service, Consumer Goods and Mobile Technology. Canterbury has lived and worked in seven countries.
