James has over a decade of investment experience in technology venture capital. This includes five years as a general partner at Advent (2001 - 06) and five years at Warburg Pincus (1996 - 2001) where he became a partner and managing director. Having become increasingly interested in and attracted by environmental technologies, James joined WHEB in mid-2007.
Prior to becoming a venture capitalist, James accrued many years of technology industry experience as a senior executive of Misys Plc where he was responsible for M&A and made several acquisitions in the US.
James graduated with an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 1990 after having spent much of the 1980s as an investment banker in London with Merrill Lynch and Schroders. James also has an MA (hons.) degree from Cambridge University.
In addition to his responsibilities at WHEB, James is an active member of the European Venture Capital Association's Venture Capital Committee.
