David Velez

David Velez is a Co-Founder and serves as the Chief Executive Officer at Nubank. Prior to this he served as a Partner at Sequoia Capital. He served as a Senior Associate at General Atlantic, a global growth equity firm. He works from GA's Sao Paulo office, where he focuses on investments in a variety of industries within the Latin American region. Previous to moving to Brazil, Velez was based in New York and was part of GA's Financial Services sector. Velez joined General Atlantic in 2007. Prior to joining GA, he worked at Morgan Stanley in its Investment Banking Financial Sponsors Group based in New York. While at Morgan Stanley, he worked with private equity clients in structuring leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations and portfolio monetization transactions in a wide range of industries. Prior to that, Velez worked at Goldman Sachs in their Americas Financing Group based in New York. He serves as a Board Member at Despegar.com. He holds an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from Stanford Graduate School of Business. He also has a BS (Bachelor of Science) in Management Science from Stanford University.
