GCA is a San Francisco Bay Area based, privately held firm specializing in managing and/or advising alternative asset funds. The firm was founded in 1989 as Gerken Capital Associates and incorporated in the state of California in 1994. Since inception, the firm has established, managed or advised in excess of twenty alternative asset funds with aggregate assets under management exceeding $4.6 billion. GCA has correspondent offices in London, Hong Kong and Sao Paolo. The firm has an emphasis on emerging growth markets in Brazil, Russia, India, Greater China and the GCC. The firm manages Healthcap AB, a Stockholm based healthcare venture capital fund formed in 1997. With six funds under management and assets approaching $1 billion it is one of the largest in Europe. Additionally, the firm manages the GCA Emerging Markets Fund, L.P., a dedicated emerging markets private equity fund of funds.
