Freedom of Expression Foundation (Fritt Ord) is an independent non-profit private foundation based in Oslo, Norway. Established in 1974, the primary purpose of the foundation is to preserve and strengthen the freedom of expression and the conditions in Norway, particularly by encouraging lively debate and use of the free word. The foundation also supports other aspects of Norwegian culture, primarily the part of a culture that makes use of the word. The foundation helps to promote free speech in other countries. The assets of the foundation are managed by the executive team.Freedom of Expression Foundation's investment portfolio is valued at over NOK3.144 billion (USD$381.22 million), with investments in domestic and international equity, fixed income and private equity. The fund's investment portfolio return for 2017 was 11.9%.
