European Central Bank

European Central Bank (ECB) is a banking institution based in Frankfurt, Germany. Founded in 1998, the bank has been responsible for conducting monetary policy for the euro area, the EU countries that have adopted the euro. The main decision-making body is the governing council, which consists of the six members of the executive board plus the governors of the central banks of the 19 euro area countries. The assets are managed by the supervisory board.
