DFJ-VTB Aurora is a family of funds established to invest in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The fund's mission is to identify, serve, and provide capital for extraordinary entrepreneurs in Russia and CIS and help them build companies that can compete in world markets. DFJ-VTB Aurora was formed in September 2007 by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, a leading international high-technology venture capital group, and VTB, a leading Russian commercial banking group with over $52 billion in assets. DFJ-VTB Aurora considers investments starting with round A and onwards with a typical investment size of $3M to $8M in businesses that are either founded in Russia, or have plans to develop an R&D, manufacturing or sales/distribution presence in the region. Additional capital is also reserved for follow-on investment as the business successfully achieves key milestones. For companies that may require a larger initial capital infusion, DFJ-VTB will also consider co-investing within a syndicate. The firm currently has over $6 billion under management.
