The firm is an affiliate of Draper Fisher Jurvetson, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm. DFJ Frontier invests in start-ups and is particularly interested in emerging technologies, and will consider any market driven technology opportunity including software, information services, biotechnology, nanotechnology, and alternative energy. DFJ Frontier typically invests $100,000 to $1,000,000 initially, with additional capital reserved for follow-on investment as the company successfully achieves key milestones. DFJ Frontier expects the managers of its portfolio companies to own significant equity stakes.
