Alaska Public Employees' Retirement System (Alaska PERS) is a public pension plan based in Juneau, Alaska. Established in 1961, the purpose of the retirement system is to attract public employees by offering a variety of benefits to members and their survivors. The benefits of the plan when combined with other income, are designed to provide members with the basis for financial security during their retirement years. The system is managed by the Alaska Retirement Management Board that approves investment policies and objectives and manages and administers the fund.
