Description
Dr. Teo Forcht Dagi serves as Director, Healthcare at Anglo Scientific. He served as Board Member at Apta Biosciences. He also serves as Board Member at CV6 Therapeutics. For the past two decades, Dr Dagi has focused on surgical and translational innovation. He has been involved in medical startups in Northern Ireland for the past 15 years, and chaired a commission on biomedical innovation in Northern Ireland from 2002-2006. Trained as a neurosurgeon, he worked in the areas of neuro-oncology, functional neurosurgery, head trauma and craniofacial reconstruction. Teo is head of Life Sciences at Anglo Scientific in London, and Managing Member of Salutramed, a biomedically focused strategic consulting group. He invests in early stage companies in biomedical devices, instrumentation, informatics and the life sciences. He is chairman of healthEgames, and Microtest Matrices, and a director of Vittamed, Axela Biosensors, Apta and Viamune. He is chairman-elect of the Council on Surgical and Perioperative Safety in the US, a director of the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation, a director of the Medical Development Group of Massachusetts and an Overseer of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a major Harvard teaching hospital. He is a spokesman for the American College of Surgeons. Teo is a Distinguished Scholar and Professor at Queen's University Belfast, where he chaired the IAP, and teaches at Harvard Medical School, where he is a member of the Academy and the Center for Bioethics. He received an MD and MPH from Johns Hopkins, an MBA from Wharton and a DMedSc from QUB. He completed neurosurgical training at the Massachusetts General Hospital, and held the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Fellowship at Harvard. He has taught at Harvard Business School and the National Venture Capital Institute, and served as a director of numerous private and public companies in the US and Canada, as well as the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, The Georgia Institute of Technology and Wharton. He has chaired SABs for Dupont, Lundbeck USA and the Royal Bank of Canada, among others. An editor of Neurosurgery, he has authored 7 books and over 250 publications. Dr. Dagi holds the US Humanitarian Service Medal, Election to the College of Critical Care Medicine, and Fellowship ad hominem from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. He was named a Sir Thomas and Lady Edith Dixon Medallist of the Ulster Medical Society, and to the Top 100 Health Professionals for 2015. He is a Board Member at Tharos.
