Steve Allpress

Dr. Steve Allpress served as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at BGF Ventures.Dr. Allpress serves as Venture Partner at OMERS Ventures. He served as Advisor at FiveAI. Dr. Steve Allpress served as Senior Vice President at Nvidia. He has served as Chief Technology Officer and Vice President, Modem Software at Icera. He co-founded the company. He is responsible for the overall strategic development of Icera's unique soft modem technology and maintains direct responsibility for the Wireless Systems group. He is the founder of the company and served as Member of the Board of Directors. Dr. Allpress holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree (graduating with First Class honours) and a PhD in CDMA communications from the University of Bristol. After finishing his PhD in 1993, he took up a position with Lucent (NYSE: LU), formerly AT&T Bell Laboratories, in the USA, in its cellular infrastructure business unit. Working within its forward-looking organization, he developed intellectual property for Lucent's base-station products and made numerous contributions to the development of third generation cellular standards. As technical manager of the "Communications Architecture and Analysis" group he led the development of several generations of Lucent's CDMA baseband signal processing devices all of which were "first-pass" successes and significantly outperformed the competition. In 2000 he joined Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: BRCM) in the USA to establish its cellular business, where he developed intellectual property for GSM/EDGE syste Most recently he was Chief Research Fellow at Toshiba Research Laboratories. Dr. Allpress is the holder of ten issued US patents and has several patents pending. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a Fellow of the IEE.
