Shailesh Mehta

Dr. Shailesh Mehta serves as General Partner at Granite Hill Capital Partners. He also served as Board Member at Swych. He is the former Chairman and CEO of Providian Financial, which he built from a small team into a Fortune 300 company - one of the country's top ten credit card issuers. Prior to Providian, Shailesh was Executive VP of AmeriTrust (now KeyCorp), the largest bank in Ohio at the time. Upon leaving Providian in 2000, Shailesh joined WestBridge Capital (Sequoia Capital India) as Operating General Partner, where he invested in India and served on the boards of Indecomm and FirstSource (still current). Shailesh then served as GP with Invesco. Prior boards include Providian, MasterCard, PayPal and Hanover Direct; he is currently on the board of AccountNow (payments startup). He founded the SJM School of Management at IIT-Bombay, and was appointed a Trustee of Cal State University. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from IIT-Bombay, and a PhD in Operations Research from Case Western Reserve.
