Tulare County Employees' Retirement Association (TCERA), based in Visalia, California, provides retirement, disability, and death benefits to the employees, retirees, and former employees of the County of Tulare, the Tulare County Superior Courts, and the Strathmore Public Utility District. The fund manages a total of $1 billion. TCERA recently hired investment consultant Wurts & Associates, who has propsed a 10% allocation of TCERA's assets to "opportunistic" investments, which may come to include hedge funds and private equity funds. The board will be meeting in the near future to discuss the proposal.
