About 65% of Prairie's client base is private individuals, with the remainder being institutional investors. Prairie manages about $1 billion in alternative investments between investments in hedge funds, fund of funds, real estate, and private equity (both direct and through funds of funds).Prairie manages a long/short equity fund of funds which invests in about 26 underlying managers. The firm also invests in external funds of funds and hedge funds primarily in long/short equity and the emerging market space.� In the past, Prairie was involved with market neutral and global macro funds but has since moved away.� The firm does prefer to invest through single-manager funds.
