MEAG which was founded in 1999 is the asset management arm of Munich Re. MEAG serves institutional and private investors that offers comprehensive asset management concepts tailored to each investor's needs. Munich Re invests in funds of hedge funds private equity funds funds of private equity funds and real estate funds. MEAG was much less active in the private equity asset class during 2009 but plans to actively research and invest in private equity funds during 2010. MEAG prefers to source its own fund managers and does not disclose its current allocation to private equity funds.
