Mark Bamforth

Mark Bamforth is the Founder and serves as Chief Executive Officer at Arranta Bio. Mark Bamforth is a Co-Founder and serves as President & Chief Executive Officer at Brammer Biopharmaceuticals. Bamforth serves as a Senior Vice President of Genzyme Molecular Oncology. Bamforth is responsible for product supply from Genzyme's twelve GMP manufacturing sites located in Europe, USA and Australia, which produce some 20 commercial, regulated products using biological, small molecule, therapeutic polymer, cell, tissue and biomaterial device technologies. He served as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Operations and Pharmaceuticals of Genzyme Corporation since May 2004. He served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Operations at Genzyme Oncology. from May 2001 to May 2004. He joined Genzyme in 1988 as Vice President and General Manager of Genzyme's operations in the United Kingdom. He was responsible for the centralized support functions of Quality & Technical Operations and Materials Management which support all of Genzyme's sites and businesses, including management of the capacity strategy with an investment of $300-400M p.a. to develop internal manufacturing capacity and infrastructure. In addition, he is responsible for the Pharmaceutical Business Unit which has a manufacturing operation in Liestal, Switzerland and sells specialty chemicals and drug delivery technologies to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry and manufactures clinical materials for Genzyme development products. Before joining Genzyme in 1988, he served as a Drilling Engineer in the North Sea offshore oil industry and then as a Chemical Engineer in the whisky industry in Scotland. Bamforth serves as a Member of Advisory Board of Scottish Development International. He serves on the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council Board, University College London's (UCL) Department of Biochemical Engineering's Advisory Board and on Scottish Enterprise's International Advisory Board. Bamforth has a BSc. Honors in Chemical Engineering from Strathclyde University and an MBA from Henley Business School. Bamforth serves as Operating Partner at Ampersand Capital Partners.
