In 1983 Joel founded Knightsbridge in London to offer European institutional investors the opportunity to invest in the best early stage U.S. venture capital partnerships. Over the past 28 years, he has invested in over 130 venture partnerships on behalf of Knightsbridge.
In nearly three decades as a venture partnership investor, Joel has developed Knightsbridge's relationships with most of the top, company-building venture franchises and initiated commitments to several roman numeral one funds that have gone on to achieve top tier status. He has successfully introduced several innovations to the funds of funds business, including one of the first early stage and venture growth composite funds strategies.
Joel is a former consultant to Horsley Bridge Associates, an institutional investor in U.S. venture capital partnerships. From 1980 to 1982, he served as Vice President and Director of a venture capital backed start-up. He was an executive director at Orion Bank Limited in the U.K. from 1972 to 1980. While at Citibank N.A. from 1968 to 1972, Joel was a lending officer to U.S. and global companies. Joel received a B.S. in Economics from Drury College.
Joel is an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying golf and scuba diving. He also enjoys theater, classical music, architecture, reading and travel.
