James Stewart is the Fuunder and serves as Managing Partner at Menlo Partners. He is also an Angel Investor. He is a business studies and engineering graduate from the University of Strathclyde. After four years with the international management consulting division of Arthur Andersen, now re-named Accenture, he joined N M Rothschild & Sons Limited. He transferred to Rothschild Ventures Limited in 1988, where, latterly as a Director, he was involved in leading a wide range of investments including, for example, Rothschild Ventures investments in Research Machines, Maison Blanc Limited and Peacock's Stores as well as holding several non-executive directorships. He joined ECI Partners, one of the longest established and leading mid-market private equity firms in the UK, in 1995 and ECI transactions in which he was involved include Nuaire (a management buy-out of a commercial and industrial ventilation equipment manufacturer, Tragus (a buy-in to the Cafe Rouge and Bella Pasta restaurant chains acquired from Whitbread, Taylor (a buy-in to a waste container manufacturer, Racal Acoustics (a buy-out of a specialist manufacturer of communications equipment primarily for the defense and avionics sectors subsequently acquired by Esterline and Kelvin Hughes Limited (a buy-out of the leading integrated supplier of navigational systems and data to the global marine and defense sectors from Smiths Industries. James retired from ECI in March 2013 and founded Menlo Partners.
