Elizabethtown College, based in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, was founded in 1899 by members of the Church of the Brethren. Today, it is a co-educational college offering a mix of liberal arts and professional studies. The college's endowment has received a great deal of press in recent years, as its investments and asset allocation have consistently outperformed endowments of similar sizes. The $60 million endowment is managed by Dauphin Capital Partners, a Locust Valley, NY-based company headed by James Hoover, an Elizabethtown alumnus.
