Description
Hitesh has extensive experience as a venture capital investor in European high technology companies as well as significant operational experience. Prior to joining IDG Ventures Europe, Hitesh was a General Partner of Amadeus Capital Partners Limited. He joined Amadeus in 1998, a few months after it was founded, as its fourth partner. At Amadeus, Hitesh worked as a senior member of transaction teams and served on the firm’s Investment Committee. He was involved in some of Amadeus’ most successful investments, including Entropic (acquired by Microsoft), Element 14 (acquired by Broadcom), and Whereonearth (subsequently acquired by Yahoo!). Hitesh has established a reputation for being actively involved in his portfolio companies. His operational experience includes being Managing Director of Fayrewood plc, an AIM listed company, where he initiated and implemented a new strategy to move the company into computer distribution and services. This resulted in the company growing from £4m to £52m in revenues in a 12-month period following two highly successful acquisitions. Today the Company has revenues in excess of £500m. Hitesh founded and managed his own consultancy firm, MMI Limited which focused on restructuring and turnaround situations. He also founded EduCom, a virtual retail mail-order company. As Managing Director of Merisel (UK) Ltd he grew the business from £58m to £146m in revenues, doing so profitably in a highly competitive environment. Previously he was Sales and Marketing Director at ComputerLand Europe. He held variety of management positions in systems engineering, sales and marketing at IBM. Whilst at IBM, he was involved with both software and hardware across the complete range of IBM products and covering direct sales as well as external channels. Hitesh was awarded a scholarship from IBM and obtained an Honours degree in Computer Science from Warwick University.
