Geir Frre serves as Seniur Vice President at Silicon Labs. He is responsible for driving the company's product and market strategies in the Internet of Things, Internet Infrastructure and Industrial segments. Currently he is the Chairman at Zivid. Frre joined Silicon Labs in July 2013 as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Microcontroller and Wireless Products following the company's acquisition of Energy Micro. Frre founded Energy Micro in 2007 and helped spearhead the development and market introduction of the world's most energy-friendly MCUs, the EFM32 Gecko MCU portfolio. Frre has more than 20 years of semiconductor industry experience spanning research, development, marketing and management. Prior to founding Energy Micro, he was a co-founder of Chipcon, serving as its President and CEO from Chipcon's beginning in 1996 until August 2007. Frre led Chipcon's development from its inception as a design house to becoming the market leader in low-power RF solutions a decade later. He holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, commonly known as NTNU, in Trondheim, Norway.
