Alvaro Alvarez Rio

Alvaro Alvarez del Rio serves as Investment Director at Swordfish Investments. He leads venture capital investments. While at Swordfish, he co-founded the venture capital practice. He sits on the Board of Winko Games and HoneyCo and is an observer at Koyoki. Over the last 5 years, he has made over 40 seed investments in the spaces of mobile games, consumer services and technology enablers, with exits including Supercell and Nexmo. He is also an angel investor and advisor to technology companies. Prior to joining Swordfish in January 2011, he was an investor in southern Europe with Strategic Value Partners. Prior to that, he was an analyst at Goldman Sachs and completed the Graduate Programme at UBS in London. He studied Business Administration at Deusto University, Spain, and International Business at NHH in Bergen, Norway.
