Alasdair Macleod

Alasdair Macleod is a Co-Founder & Owner of Maia Technology and also serves as its Co-Chairman. He co-founded Macdoch Ventures. He founded Macdoch Ventures in 2010 after a 20 year career with NewsCorporation. While with News he witnessed first hand the effect of digital disruption on established business models and got to play offense (as Board Director of REA, the owner of Australia's leading real estate website) and defense (as CEO of various newspaper businesses in Australia and the UK). He also lead the development of various digital businesses for News interactive in the UK during the "first Tech Boom" of the late nineties where he made many mistakes. Alasdair believes that the important ingredients for a successful start-up are people, people and people (and a bit of money and some luck). Fortunately, there are lots of smart people starting new businesses in Australia at the moment and the ambition of Macdoch Ventures is to help as many of them as possible.
