University of Saskatchewan (U of S) manages an endowment fund which is located in Saskatoon, Canada. The endowment funds are invested and the investment earnings are used to support annual expenditures. The endowment funds contain a mix of donations and accumulated investment earnings. The endowment fund accounts for resources received with the stipulation that the original contribution not be spent. The fund also consists of a portion of the investment income earned on these funds that is required by donors and the board of governors to be added to the fund to offset the eroding effect of inflation. The assets of the endowment are managed and administered under the leadership of the board of trustees.
