University of Maine System manages an endowment which is based in Orono, Maine. Established in the year 1968, the earnings from endowment investments support scholarships, chairs, professorships, fellowships, basic research, as well as academic and public service progra The endowment is managed by the board of trustees.The University of Maine System oversees a Managed Investment Pool (MIP) valued at over $160.54 million as of June 30, 2020, with investments in private equity. A portion of funds within the MIP are endowment funds from various University of Maine campuses.
