Salomon Brothers Venture Capital is a Wall Street investment bank headquartered in New York, USA. It was founded in 1910 by three brothers named Arthur, Herbert, and Percy). Salomon Brothers was acquired by the commodity trading firm Phibro Corporation and then became Salomon Inc.
Eventually Salomon (NYSE:SB) was acquired by Travelers Group in 1998, and following the latter's merger with Citicorpthat same year, Salomon became part of Citigroup.
It has offices in London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. The parent company also engages in commodities trading and petroleum refining through its subsidiaries Phibro Energy USA, Inc., Phibro Division of Salomon Inc., and Phibro Energy Production, Inc., a joint venture with Russia.
