Poetry Foundation

Poetry Foundation is an independent non-profit organization based in Chicago, Illinois. Established in 2003 upon receipt of a major gift from philanthropist Ruth Lilly, the Poetry Foundation evolved from the Modern Poetry Association, which was founded in 1941 to support the publication of Poetry magazine. The foundation is a publisher of poetry magazines and is an independent literary organization committed to the presence of poetry in the culture. It exists to discover and celebrate the best poetry and to place it before the largest possible audience. The assets of the foundation are governed by the Board of Trustees.Poetry Foundation's investment portfolio is valued at over $250.05 million, with investments in domestic and international equity, fixed income, real assets & natural resources, real estate, hedge funds, private equity, and cash.
