Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA) is an insurance company based in Honolulu, Hawaii. Established in 1938, the company's mission is to provide the people of Hawaii access to a sustainable, quality health care system that improves the overall health and well-being of the state. The firm provides the people of Hawaii with health insurance, for both employer groups and individual members and in addition to health plans, the company covers dental and vision services and prescription drugs. HMSA also provides wellness, disease management, and health education services. HMSA is administered and governed by the board of directors and is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
