Golden Ventures is a Canadian early-stage venture capital firm headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, founded in 2011 by Managing Partner Matt Golden (who previously co-founded the Canadian accelerator-like Extreme Venture Partners / XVP and was an active Toronto angel investor), investing in early-stage (pre-seed, seed, Series A) technology companies across North America (with a focus on Canadian-origin founders selectively expanding cross-border), partnering with bold founders building transformative consumer internet, enterprise software, SaaS, fintech, crypto / web3, and adjacent technology companies. Golden Ventures has raised multiple institutional funds (Fund I at CAD 30 million in 2012, Fund II at CAD 60 million in 2015, Fund III at CAD 80 million in 2018, Fund IV at CAD 100 million in 2021, Fund V at CAD 115 million in 2024) with aggregate AUM of approximately CAD 400-500 million. Typical initial check sizes are in the CAD / USD 500,000 to USD 2 million range as a lead or co-lead investor at seed stage, with follow-on reserves through Series A. Notable portfolio companies include Clearco (formerly Clearbanc, unicorn), Wealthsimple, Jobber, Properly, Wattpad (acquired by Naver), Top Hat Monocle, Ritual, and many other leading Canadian technology companies.
