Gateway Capital (also trading as Gateway Capital Partners, operating historically at gatewaycap.com and currently at gwaycapital.com) is a Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based early-stage venture capital firm founded in 2020 by Managing Partner Dana Guthrie, one of the few Black- and female-led venture capital firms in the United States, and explicitly focused on pre-seed and seed stage startups in ''overlooked'' Midwest geographies with emphasis on low-to-moderate income communities and underrepresented founders. Fund I (2020) closed at approximately USD 13 to 13.5 million backed by Wisconsin's Badger Fund of Funds programme, the Greater Milwaukee Foundation (USD 1 million impact-investment commitment in 2021), and other limited partners, investing in pre-revenue Wisconsin startups across fintech, digital health, and enterprise software. Fund II (first-close announced March 2026, targeting USD 25 to 30 million) expanded the firm's geographic scope beyond Wisconsin to include Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, and Ohio, with an industry-agnostic but Midwest-biased strategy and average check sizes of USD 500,000 to USD 600,000 across a target of 20+ portfolio companies. Disclosed portfolio companies include Novir, Tip a ScRxipt, Houstr, The Way Out, IcTect, Golgix (manufacturing AI), The Pink Bakery, Sonoptima, DropCap, Insuraviews, Setpoint, Outhad, and Geno.Me (acquired by Boston-based Outcomes4Me in March 2026).
