FASTFWD – an urban innovations refinery based in Philadelphia, aims to source and cultivate solutions to the world’s most pressing urban challenges. Forged through a winning application to the Bloomberg Mayors Challenge, the partnership between the Wharton Social Impact Initiative, The Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics, and GoodCompany Group works to redefine urban challenges as business opportunities. Using Philadelphia as a focal point, the partnership seeks to reinvent public-private partnerships between cities and their innovators from the for-profit field to cultivate a new ecosystem of urban innovation.
FastFWD is a partnership among The City of Philadelphia, GoodCompany Group, a social enterprise accelerator, and the Wharton Social Impact Initiative. FastFWD was created through the City of Philadelphia’s participation in the Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Mayors Challenge, a competition to inspire American cities to generate innovative ideas that solve major challenges and improve city life. Bloomberg Philanthropies will fund the first two issue areas to be tackled by FastFWD.
