Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield (ABCBS) is a not-for-profit mutual insurance company based in Little Rock, Arkansas. Established in 1948, ABCBS provides accident, life, and health insurance benefits to its clients. Arkansas Blue Cross is owned by its policyholders, not by stockholders. Usable Mutual Insurance Company is doing business as Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield. It is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, the largest health insurer in Arkansas. The company's assets are managed by a board of directors.
