Description
Stephen Siegel serves as Chairman, Global Brokerage at CBRE Group. He advises major corporations and property owners on a broad range of real estate strategies. Previously, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer at Insignia Financial Group. He serves as a President of the Board of the American Friends of Rabin Medical Center - AFRMC (Israel's largest medical facility). He served as Chief Executive Officer of Insignia/ ESG Inc., one of the premier commercial real estate companies in the United States, with significant international operations in the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. He is largely responsible for masterminding the national and international growth of Insignia/ ESG Inc., nationwide as well as throughout Europe, to Japan, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, and Latin America. He became President and Chief Executive Officer of Insignia/ ESG, Inc. (formerly Edward S. Gordon Company, "ESG"), June 1992 to May 1998. Prior to joining ESG, Siegel spent more than 27 years at Cushman & Wakefield, ascending to Chief Executive Officer. From 1988 to 1992, he served as President of Chubb Realty, a real estate development subsidiary of The Chubb Corporation. He left Cushman & Wakefield in late 1988 and entered a joint venture with the Chubb Corporation, where he worked for several years to develop and acquire investment-grade office buildings throughout the United States. Throughout his distinguished career, he has arranged transactions for some of the nation's most prominent corporate clients including, among others, J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., Sidley Austin Brown & Wood LLP, Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson LLP, Amerada Hess Corp., Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., Swiss Reinsurance, MetLife and Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld. He also spends a great deal of his time advising major corporations and property owners on a wide range of real estate issues. He is widely regarded in commercial real estate circles as one of the industry's most talented and prolific professionals and is also involved in a number of charitable and civic affairs. Siegel serves as Chairman of Global Brokerage Services of CB Richard Ellis Group Inc. and CB Richard Ellis Services, Inc. He serves as the General Chairman of the Association for the Help of Retarded Children and a Chairman of the YMCA's Capital Campaign. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. He served as Chairman of Insignia/ ESG Inc. He has been Director of FBO Air Inc. since September 15, 2006. He has been an Independent Director of Key Hospitality Acquisition Corp. since April 25, 2005. He has been Director of Insignia Financial Group, Inc. since its inception in May 1998. He has been an Independent Trustee of Liberty Property Trust, a general partner of Liberty Property LP, since May 1995 and serves as Chairman of its Compensation Committee. In addition, he serves as a board member for both the City Center 55th Street Theater Foundation and the Greater New York Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He served as Director of Tower Realty Trust Inc. since 1997. He serves on the advisory board of Wharton Business School's Real Estate Center and New York University's Real Estate Council. He serves as a General Chairman of the Association for the Help of Retarded Children (AHRC-NYC). His other memberships include member of Advisory Board of Baruch College's Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute Business Leadership Council, City University of New York, 20-year Member of Board, Foundation Fighting Blindness, 25-year Member of Board, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Board of Directors, YMCA, New York Administrative Committee, Fleet Boston Financial Bank, National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine, Children's Blood Foundation, Trustee of the Intrepid Museum Foundation. Siegel serves as Chairman of the Other Committee of National Jewish Medical & Research Center, Inc. In 2005, he was featured in the Urban Land Institute's book, "Leadership Legacies: Lessons Learned from Ten Real Estate Legends." In 2004, he was honored with Commercial Property News' Lifetime Achievement Award and named by Crain's as one of the 100 most influential business leaders in New York City. His Achievements include Honoree at the Parker Jewish Institute's annual dinner dance and celebrity auction in 2003, The Crohns & Colitis Foundation "Man of the Year" Award in 2002. National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations' Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2002, Monmouth University Real Estate Institute's Leadership Excellence Award in 2001, New York University Real Estate Institute's Urban Leadership Award in 2000, AHRC-NYC's "Stephen B. Siegel Adult Day Care Center" (located in Fulton Landing, NY), inducted into the group's Hall of Honor in 1999, The Foundation Fighting Blindness Humanitarian Award in 1999, He was Honored by The Young Men's/ Women's Real Estate Association, The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), Appraisal Institute, Garden State Ballet, Special Olympics New York, The Jeffrey Modell Foundation, Israel Cancer Research Fund, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, National Conference of Christians & Jews and United Jewish Appeal. Siegel holds Honorary doctorate degrees from Monmouth University and Baruch College at their commencement ceremonies in 2003.
