Stephen Karp serves as Chairman & Chief Executive Officer at New England Development. He served as an Advisor at Citizens Bank. He is an Angel Investor. He is chairman of the board of trustees of Children's Hospital Boston and Trustee and past chairman of Children's Hospital Trust. He is a leading developer of shopping centers and mixed-use developments. He first entered the shopping center business in the late 1960's with the development of one of the first enclosed malls in the Northeast, which opened in 1972. He went on to found New England Development shortly thereafter. Under his leadership, New England Development has taken a creative, entrepreneurial approach to real estate development and management-delivering and sustaining successful projects across a wide range of property types, including some of the country's most widely-recognized and successful regional centers, as well as multifaceted developments that combine retail, residential, hotel, and office uses. Outlet centers, high-end and street-front retail, airport retail, golf courses, restaurants, and marinas round out New England Development's robust portfolio. Karp is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Boston Children's Hospital and Trustee and Past Chairman of Children's Hospital Trust. He serves as Board Chairman of Boston Youth Sanctuary. Additionally, he is on the Board of Trustees of Boston University, Belmont Hill School, and Nantucket Cottage Hospital and on the Board of Overseers for Newton-Wellesley Hospital and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
