WL Ross & Co. manages assets for institutional investors in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. The firm was formed in April 2000 with $440 million in investor capital by Wilbur Ross as an independent organization dedicated to private investments and fund management for institutional investors and family offices across the globe. The company has sponsored alternative investments including private equity funds, co-investment vehicles and hedge funds in the steel, textile, coal, automotive and financial services industries in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, India, Brazil and Bermuda. The firm and specializes in restructurings, buyouts, turnarounds, reorganizations, and industry consolidations and seeks to invest between $100 million and $200 million. In 2006, WL Ross & Co. joined Invesco Ltd. (see profile), one of the world's largest independent investment management firms, to enhance their institutional platform and global capabilities. The firm now manages more than $7 billion.
