Mike Segal serves as Chief Executive Officer at Duke Energy (North American Power Generation Assets). He is the Founder and serves as Chairman of the Management Committee at LS Power Group. He founded LS Power in 1990 and has forty-one years of experience in the power industry. Under his leadership, LS Power has grown to become one of the largest independent power and transmission developers in the United States, involved in the development of fossil-fired and renewable power plants, as well as major transmission projects in the United States. Additionally, LS Power Equity Advisors manages three power-sector focused private equity funds with $6.36 billion in equity capital. Since inception, LS Power has developed, constructed, managed or acquired more than 32,000 MW of power generation and 470 miles of transmission assets throughout the United States. Towards its endeavors, LS Power has raised more than $29 billion in debt and equity financing. Prior to LS Power, Segal served as co-head of Commercial Union Energy Corporation where he was responsible for managing the Commercial Union Energy Limited Partnership, a partnership focused on investing in power generation projects. Segal was previously President of The Energy Systems Company, a private developer of cogeneration projects, and held various positions, including General Manager of Power Generation and Systems Planning, with LEMCO Engineers, Inc. ("LEMCO"), an electrical engineering and consulting firm in St. Louis, Missouri. Prior to LEMCO, Segal worked for the Department of Energy in the former Soviet Union. Segal received an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Kharkiv Polytech Institute in Ukraine.
