Lars Ahlstrom

Lars Ahlstrom is Operating Partner and Chief Financial Officer at Mainsail Partners. He oversees the finance function for the organization, working closely with the firm’s executive team to lead the business. Lars provides strategic financial advice and leadership, as well as tactical support for Mainsail’s portfolio companies. He also supports Mainsail’s investment team, leading financial/accounting due diligence in the evaluation of new opportunities. Additionally, Lars serves as Mainsail’s Chief Compliance Officer, ensuring that the firm is in full compliance with all SEC registration requirements. Lars joined Mainsail as CFO in 2006. He has extensive experience in the private equity and venture capital industry, having worked with leading firms such as Golden Gate Capital and Storm Ventures. Lars also served as CFO for start-up companies such as XenSource, All Bases Covered, ISDA & Co and the American Basketball League. He began his career in the leasing industry, working for Memorex Finance Company and Leasing Solutions. Lars received a B.S. in Industrial Engineering, with Distinction, from Stanford University and an M.B.A. in Finance and Accounting from the UCLA Graduate School of Management. He enjoys travel, almost all sports (especially tennis) and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
