Kern Bhugra has over 20 years of executive management experience in both start-ups and large corporations. In 2002, he founded Tibion Bionic Technologies, a leader in neurological rehabilitation which was recently acquired, and served as Chairman and CEO for seven years leading the company from concept through venture financing, clinical trials, and regulatory hurdles to achieve market entry and sales.
Kern has gone on to found two additional companies in the medical device space, and has assisted in raising venture capital for several others; he has also provided consultation on due diligence matters to vc firms.
Kern’s career began at IBM with responsibilities ranging from medical imaging systems to senior management in global technology operations in the US, Europe, and Asia. Currently, Kern is the President of JunoPacific Corporation, a medical device design, development, and manufacturing firm with plants in California and Minnesota. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Leonis Medical, Aerin Medical, and a non-profit educational institution in Northern California, as well as on the medical device screening committee of a Silicon Valley angel investment group.
He has provided perspectives on the medical device industry as a panelist, moderator, and lecturer at numerous conferences. Kern received a BSEE with honors from the University of Michigan and a MSEE with emphasis in bioengineering from Stanford University.
