John St.

John brings more than 12 years of entrepreneurial and communications industry executive experience to the firm. As a Venture Partner with Highland, John will be looking at communications and digital media technologies. Background Prior to joining Highland, John was the founder and CEO of Telica, a Highland-backed company that specialized in advanced switching and transmission telecommunication equipment. Under his leadership, Telica developed and delivered the most highly reliable and scalable VoIP switching solution to carriers worldwide. Since the company's founding in 1998, Telica attracted more than $120 million in venture capital funding, grew to more than 240 employees and secured more than 60 customers. After the acquisition of Telica by Lucent (NYSE: LU) in 2004, John served as the President of Lucent Technologies Converged Core Networks. Following the merger of Alcatel and Lucent (NYSE: ALU), John became President of Multi-Core Networks, a $2 billion business that encompassed worldwide, core voice and data network elements from both companies. John began his career at Dynamics Research Corporation (DRC) where he was instrumental in DRC's entry into the telecommunications market and developed the strategic plan and development of a next generation broadband-capable OSS. John has been widely recognized as an entrepreneurial leader resulting in many industry accolades including Deloitte & Touche's Technology Fast 50 and Rising Star, Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist, Mass High Tech All Star, Massachusetts Telecom Council Product of the Year, Massachusetts Telecom Council Liquidity Event of the Year and Mass Telecom Council Board of Directors.
