Javier Faus

Javier Faus is a Founding Partner and serves as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer at Meridia Capital. As a prominent investment professional, he has managed over two billion euros of investments/divestments since 2001, mostly in prime Real Estate in Spain, France and Latin America. Faus has worked with leading hospitality, retail and Real Estate firms worldwide such as Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, InterContinental, Starwood, Six Senses, Apple or Ahold. Over the past 15 years he has also secured financing from leading financial institutions such as Santander, BBVA, La Caixa, Banc Sabadell, Royal Bank of Scotland, Eurohypo and Corpbanca (Chile and Brazil). Faus' broad experience includes working with all types of international equity partners, both institutional and HNWIs, following the strictest ILPA guidelines. Between 2001 and 2006, Faus was CEO and minority shareholder of HOVISA, a Real Estate company based in Barcelona and owner of Hotel Arts (operated by Ritz-Carlton). From 2003 to 2006 he acted as Iberian Managing Partner for Patron Capital. In 2010 he was appointed Member of the Board of Directors of Colonial, the largest public Spanish Real Estate company, ceasing in May 2014 due to incompatibility with Meridia II. Prior to his investment career, Faus worked as a mergers and acquisitions lawyer in the offices of J&A Garrigues (New York) and Cuatrecasas Abogados (Barcelona). Between 2010 and 2015 he was Vice Chairman at FC Barcelona where, from a non-executive role, he oversaw different areas such as Strategy, Finance and Marketing. He has won several awards, including the 2002 Deal of the Year by the International Hotel Investment Forum and the SAHIC 2011 award for best investor. Faus is also active in the academic sector. He assists different professors at Harvard, IESE and ESADE Business Schools, helping writing and imparting cases based on his own experience. Faus received a Law degree from Universidad de Barcelona, a Masters in International Law from Georgetown University and an MBA from ESADE Business School. He served as Managing Partner at Patron Capital Advisers.
