Equity Group Investments, LLC is a principal investment firm specializing in buyouts, distressed, and turnaround investments in large companies. EI has raised over $2 billion and invested in 23 portfolio companies representing a wide spectrum of real estate-related sectors, including homebuilding, retail property, corporate property, warehousing and distribution, hospitality, senior living and specialty finance. Equity Group Investments was founded in 1968 by Sam Zell (founder of Equity Office). October of 2011 Equity announced the closing of its newest fund, EI Fund V. The Fund comprises $650 million of equity capital commitments and represents EI's largest fund to-date.
