The Wicks Group of Companies, LLC is a New York based private equity firm that invests in selected segments of the communications, information and media industries. Since its founding in 1989, Wicks has invested over $1 billion of capital in 28 platform companies and approximately 100 add-on acquisitions. Wicks focuses its investment activities on segments categorized by market niche or geographic focus. These segments are large and rapidly growing and are driven by many of the same factors that characterize the communications, media and information industries overall. Wicks focuses on mid-size and smaller geographic markets, as defined by population, consumer purchasing power and advertising potential, principally in the following segments: Television broadcasting; Radio broadcasting; Newspaper publishing, shoppers, free newspapers, local yellow pages; Cable television systems; and Outdoor advertising. In addition, Wicks invests opportunistically in related businesses that have similar characteristics. The firm typically targets $20 - $50 million of equity per investment and seeks companies that have established operations and generate profits, generally with operating cash flow (EBITDA) of $7 - $25 million. Wicks is currently investing Fund III, worth $535 million, as part of its Wicks Communications & Media Partners III, LP.
