Since 1988, EnCap has been a leading provider of private equity to independent oil and gas companies, closing over $8.3 billion of principal investments and corporate finance transactions. The firm has raised 17 institutional oil and gas investment funds totaling approximately $18 billion and currently manages capital on behalf of over 250 U.S. and International investors. EnCap has invested with over 200 companies. The firm's most recent fund, EnCap Energy Capital VIII L.P., closed in January 2011 with $3.5 billion of limited partner capital commitments.
