A co-founder of El Dorado Ventures in 1986, Gary Kalbach has more than 25 years of experience in venture capital investing. He has served on the boards of more than 40 technology start-ups, including hardware, software and semiconductor companies.
Prior to launching El Dorado Ventures, Gary served as the sole General Partner of West Coast Venture Capital, a seminal venture capital fund formed in 1978 that played a key role in the development of the technology sector. Among West Coast's many successful investments were Sun Microsystems (which received $100,000 in seed funding from West Coast) and Integrated Device Technology, still a major Silicon Valley-based semiconductor company.
Before becoming a venture capitalist, Gary was a banker with Union Bank and Wells Fargo Bank, specializing in loans to Silicon Valley's then-emerging information technology sector.
Gary received a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from San Jose State University.
