Dirk Werner is a Director in the Banking department of the EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development), based in London and Head of the Information and Communication Technologies sector. In this role Dirk oversees the Bank’s lending and investment business to companies in this sector and in the Bank’s countries of operation. This sector includes the Bank’s venture capital practice. Prior to joining the EBRD at the beginning of 2015, Dirk was Managing Director and Head of M&A at Sberbank Corporate and Investment Banking in Moscow from 2012 to 2014. Before that he was Managing Director, Corporate and Investment Banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch based in London from 2007 to 2011. Earlier positions included investment banking roles at Lehman Brothers in New York and London and at Morgan Stanley in London. Dirk graduated as Diplom-Volkswirt (M.A. Economics) from the Georg-August University of Göttingen and also studied at Amherst College, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
